Q1 FY25: GAIL posts 77.5% jump in net profit at Rs 3,183.35 cr

New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited posted a 77.5 percent jump in net profit year-on-year at Rs 3,183.35 crore in Q1 of FY2024-25. In the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, GAIL’s net profit was Rs 1,792.99 crore. On quarter-on-quarter basis, the gas utility’s net profit went up by 28.7 percent. GAIL’s standalone net profit for Q1 FY25 is Rs 2,723.98 crore, which is 93 percent higher in comparison to Rs 1,412 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

GAIL’s consolidated revenue from operations in Q1 of FY2024-25 was Rs 34,821.89 crore, which was 6 percent higher than Rs 32,848.78 crore recorded in the year-ago period. On quarter-on-quarter basis, the figure is up 6.05 percent. The PSU reported a total income of Rs 35,042.44 crore in the June quarter of the current fiscal. GAIL’s Profit before Tax (PBT) for the first quarter of the current financial year is Rs 4,113.82 crore.

Buoyed by good profits, GAIL’s earnings per share went up from 2.73 percent in the June quarter a year ago to 4.84 percent in the June quarter of FY25.

GAIL’s natural gas marketing biz most profitable, petchem made losses

GAIL earned profit of Rs 1,446.87 crore on natural gas transmission in Q1 FY25, which was 41 percent higher than Rs 1,028.33 crore registered in the year-ago period. Profits on LPG for the quarter under review is Rs 80.75 crore. Natural gas marketing business was the most profitable as it yielded Rs 2,036.13 crore in profits to GAIL. The petrochemicals business, on the other hand, made a loss of Rs 49.31 crore. It is interesting to note that GAIL’s petrochemicals segment made a loss of Rs 301.75 crore in the June quarter of the previous fiscal and a profit of Rs 533.41 crore in Q4 of FY2023-24. The city gas distribution business of GAIL made profits of Rs 188.45 crore.
