RailTel and NBCC signs MoU to develop Data Centre infrastructure in India and abroad

RailTel has signed an MoU with NBCC to jointly develop and execute Data Centre projects both within India and internationally

New Delhi: RailTel Corporation of India Limited (RailTel) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NBCC (India) Limited to jointly develop and execute Data Centre projects both within India and internationally.

The MoU outlines a strategic partnership where both entities will pool their strengths to handle Data Centre initiatives from inception to completion. RailTel will take charge of planning, designing, supplying, installing, testing, commissioning, and maintaining IT-related infrastructure. This includes computing hardware, network systems, security systems, and disaster recovery mechanisms.

On the other hand, NBCC will contribute its expertise in civil infrastructure by overseeing project management for the construction of Data Centre buildings and associated passive infrastructure. Its responsibilities will cover contract management, construction supervision, cost control, quality assurance, and project handover.

The collaboration also aims to expand beyond domestic borders with planned projects in international markets such as Vietnam, Mauritius, the UAE, and several African nations. Each project will be governed by a separate agreement and may include third-party partners as required.

The MoU was signed in the presence of key dignitaries, including Sanjai Kumar, CMD, RailTel; KP Mahadevaswamy, CMD, NBCC; Raj Kumar Chaudhary, CMD, NHPC; Dr. Devesh Tyagi, CEO, NIXI; Sanjay Kumar Tyagi, IPS, Additional CP, Delhi; and Rajeev Ranjan, Retd. IAS (TN), along with senior officials from the involved organizations.

Commenting on the partnership, RailTel said that the agreement provides a strategic framework to foster shared growth and innovation in the digital infrastructure sector, leveraging the core competencies of both organisations.
