The project involves survey, design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of trackside Kavach systems over 1,067 route kilometres (RKM) in the Jabalpur Division of West Central Railway. Key sections covered under the project include Itarsi–Manikpur, Mahdeiya–Bina Malkheri–Mahadeokheri, the entire Katni complex, Bina Malkheri–Agasod, Satna–Rewa, Kaima–Sagma and Bansapahar–Ohan sections.

The scope of work includes installation of Kavach equipment at stations, level crossing gates and intermediate block signalling (IBS) locations, along with optical fibre cable (OFC) works, erection of towers, and associated civil, track and electrical works under the EPC mode. The project is scheduled to be completed within 960 days as per the agreement.

Kavach is Indian Railways’ flagship indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, developed under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. It is designed to prevent train collisions, control over-speeding and avert signal passing at danger (SPAD), thereby enhancing passenger safety and operational reliability.

RailTel is already executing two Kavach deployment projects covering 1,109 route kilometres on the East Central Railway.

Commenting on the achievement, RailTel Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Sanjai Kumar, said that the order reflects strong recognition of the company’s capabilities in delivering critical railway safety infrastructure. He added that RailTel remains committed to supporting Indian Railways’ mission of safer and technology-driven rail operations through indigenous solutions.

RailTel is one of India’s largest neutral telecom infrastructure providers, with an extensive optical fibre network along railway tracks and a wide portfolio of ICT and signalling solutions.
