REC signs MoU with Kerala Govt for pumped storage projects worth Rs 18,360 crore

This collaboration between REC and the Kerala government marks a significant step towards strengthening energy infrastructure and promoting sustainable power solutions in the region

New Delhi: REC Limited has entered into a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Energy Management Centre (EMC), Government of Kerala. The agreement aims to facilitate collaboration and financing of Pumped Storage Projects (PSP) in the state.

The MoU, signed during the Global Green Hydrogen & Renewable Energy Summit 2025, outlines REC's commitment to financing projects worth Rs 18,360 crore in Kerala's PSP segment over the next five years.

The agreement has exchanged by REC's Executive Director Saurabh Rastogi and EMC Joint Director Dinesh Kumar in the presence of key dignitaries, including KR Jyothilal, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Power), Government of Kerala, and M Udaya Kumar, Chief Project Manager, REC, Kerala, along with officials from EMC and the Kerala Government.

The Global Green Hydrogen & Renewable Energy Summit, organised by the Government of Kerala, is being held in Kochi on March 12 to March 13. The event, supported by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) and the Energy Management Centre, serves as a platform for stakeholders to explore advancements in sustainable energy solutions.

The Energy Management Centre functions as an autonomous entity under the Department of Power, Government of Kerala, and plays a key role in driving the state's renewable energy initiatives.

This collaboration between REC and the Kerala government marks a significant step towards strengthening energy infrastructure and promoting sustainable power solutions in the region.
