New Delhi/Kolkata: West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) and REC Limited jointly organised a National and State Vendor Meet under the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG:MBY) in Kolkata. The meet was aimed at strengthen implementation of the scheme and accelerate rooftop solar installations across West Bengal.

The meeting, held on August 13 at Hotel Taj Bengal, was chaired by Santanu Basu, Principal Secretary, Power Department, Government of West Bengal. Officials from REC, CESC, the state government, state and national vendors and training partners participated in the meeting.
Addressing the participants, the Principal Secretary emphasised the need for active participation and coordinated efforts by state and national vendors to strengthen implementation of PMSG:MBY in West Bengal. He highlighted the collective role of the state government, REC, WBSEDCL, vendors, DISCOMs, financial institutions and other stakeholders in accelerating rooftop solar adoption under the scheme.

REC, which is the nodal agency for implementation of PMSG:MBY, also outlined measures to improve the pace of installations. REC Executive Director S. Jayanthi urged national vendors to deploy adequate manpower and called upon brand owners to expand their channel partner networks across West Bengal to facilitate faster installation of rooftop solar systems.
REC assured vendors, consumers and DISCOMs of necessary support in resolving implementation-related issues and expediting rooftop solar installations in the state.
During the meeting, REC officials Devinder, DGM, and Raman Garg, DGM, made presentations on increasing vendor participation, ensuring quality of rooftop solar plants and vendor rating. They also outlined provisions for training and capacity building of vendors under the scheme in West Bengal.
According to an official statement, the vendor meet provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss implementation-related challenges, strengthen coordination and identify measures to improve the pace of rooftop solar installations under PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in the state.
