New Delhi: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Maharatna PSU REC Limited, has handed over Balsane Power Transmission Limited, a project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), to successful bidder Resonia Limited for development of an intra-state transmission project in Maharashtra.

The SPV was handed over on September 28, following the completion of the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL, which served as the bid process coordinator for the project.

The project will be developed on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis. The SPV was formally handed over by Anil Kumar Perala, Deputy General Manager (Engineering), RECPDCL, to Tushar Chhabra, Head – Business Acquisition, Resonia Limited, in the presence of officials from Resonia Limited, Maharashtra State Transmission Utility (MSETCL) and RECPDCL.

The transmission project envisages the establishment of a 765/400/220 kV AIS substation at Balsane in Maharashtra’s Dhule district.

It also includes construction of a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line of around 106 km connecting the 765 kV AIS Balsane substation with the proposed 400 kV Malegaon substation.

In addition, the project involves a 220 kV double-circuit line of around 50 km from the Balsane substation to the 220 kV Shivajinagar and 220 kV Vikharan substations, along with associated transmission works.

The project is scheduled to be implemented within 24 months.
