New Delhi: The Material Recycling Association of India (MRAI) on Monday pitched for a centralised nodal authority or a dedicated ministry for recycling and circular economy, saying the move will help in faster decision-making and streamlined compliance processes.

At a conference on the circular economy, MRAI President Sanjay Mehta highlighted that the recycling sector is governed by multiple ministries and regulatory bodies, leading to fragmented oversight and operational inefficiencies.

Calling for the establishment of a centralised nodal authority or a dedicated ministry for recycling and circular economy, Mehta said, "Such a mechanism would ensure continuity in leadership, faster decision-making, better inter-ministerial coordination and streamlined compliance processes.
