New Delhi: Union Minister of Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy, will inaugurate a new Rooftop Solar Power Plant at the Geological Survey of India (GSI) Training Institute in Hyderabad on October 12. The inauguration will be marked by a ceremonial lamp lighting and a switch-on ceremony led by the Minister. As part of the event, Reddy, along with other dignitaries, will plant saplings at the GSI campus, symbolizing the institute's commitment to environmental sustainability and green initiatives.
This initiative aligns with the government’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which aims to power all government buildings with solar energy, reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy usage across the country.
At the plant a total of 300 bifacial solar panels have been installed (each measuring 7.5 feet by 3.75 feet) with a rated power of 550 watts peak (WP). These high-efficiency panels can capture sunlight from both sides, maximizing energy output.
The rooftop system is expected to generate 500 to 700 units of electricity daily, helping the institute reduce its reliance on non-renewable energy and supporting India's push for sustainable, solar-powered government buildings.
