RVNL bags Rs 967.93 crore railway bridge construction contract from East Coast Railway

New Delhi: State-owned infrastructure company Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has secured a major contract worth Rs 967.93 crore from East Coast Railway for the construction of key railway bridges in Odisha as part of a rail capacity enhancement project.

In a regulatory filing, RVNL said it has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) for the construction of four important bridges under the third and fourth line project between Nergundi-Barang and the Khurda Road–Vizianagaram section on the Bhadrak–Vizianagaram corridor. The project will be executed on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis.

The scope of work includes the construction of major open-web steel girder bridges over the Birupa, Mahanadi, Kathjori and Kuakhai rivers, aimed at strengthening rail connectivity and increasing line capacity on one of the country's key freight and passenger routes.

According to the company, the contract is to be completed within 1,095 days, while the total order value stands at Rs 967.92 crore, including GST. The project has been awarded by a domestic entity and falls within the normal course of RVNL's business operations.
