SECL provides jobs to 754 landowners in FY'26, sets up panel to boost transparency

New Delhi/Bilaspur: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has provided employment to 754 eligible landowners during FY 2025–26 under its land acquisition and rehabilitation policy, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive growth and stakeholder welfare.

The coal PSU, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, also announced the constitution of a high-level Standing Review Committee to enhance transparency and oversight in land-for-employment cases. The move is aimed at strengthening governance and ensuring fair implementation of policies.

During the financial year, SECL acquired over 300 hectares of land, with eligible families being extended benefits as per prescribed norms. The newly formed committee, chaired by the General Manager (Land Revenue) at SECL Headquarters in Bilaspur, will include senior officials from Planning & Projects and Manpower divisions.

The panel will scrutinize applications, examine complaints in a time-bound manner, and submit recommendations to the competent authority, ensuring the integrity of the process. SECL said the initiative is part of its continued focus on transparency, accountability, and regulatory compliance.

The company also cautioned against baseless or misleading complaints, stating that appropriate legal action may be taken in such cases. It urged stakeholders to rely on verified information and raise concerns responsibly through official channels.
