New Delhi: “SECL’s role is crucial in meeting the energy requirements of the country”, said Coal India Limited's (CIL) Chairman PM Prasad on his visit to SECL. Prasad had reached SECL as part of an important tour where he visited the company's three mega projects Gevra, Dipka, and Kusmunda located in Korba district and reviewed the mining activities and urged to make 100 percent efforts towards achieving the annual target of production.

Prasad reached Bilaspur on the first day of SECL tour on August 4, 2023 evening where SECL CMD Dr Prem Sagar Mishra, Functional Directors and Chief Vigilance Officer Jayant Kumar Khamari welcomed him at Bilaspur Bhavan.

From here Prasad left for Gevra where he took a review meeting of SECL at Gevra House late night. The General Managers of Mega Projects and Korba were present in the meeting while the remaining Area General Managers joined through VC. In the meeting, a comprehensive presentation was made regarding the performance of SECL and the targets achieved so far in this financial year. Chairman Coal India, interacted with General Managers of all the areas and discussed their targets and challenges.

Coal India Chairman visits Kusmunda Area

On the next day of the tour, Prasad arrived early in the morning for the inspection of the Kusmunda Mega Project. He went to the view point and inspected the mining activities. The Kusmunda team apprised the chairman of the field activities through a power point presentation.

Kusmunda Mega Project is on course towards the target of 50 MT production, 52 MT dispatch and 60 MCuM OBR for this financial year. So far this year, the area has recorded an increase of 49 percent in coal production, 44 percent in OBR and 12 percent in dispatch as compared to last year. During the presentation, while discussing the DigiCoal project implemented in three mega projects of SECL, it was mentioned that for the first time in Coal India, digitisation is being fully used in land acquisition in Khodri village adjacent to Kusmunda. The drones engaged in the project have helped in improving the gradient of the mine's haul road.

After inspecting the Kusmunda project, the chairman reached the recently inaugurated Rapid Rail Load Out System in Gevra area. This modern system of dispatch has a capacity of 20 MTY.

In the next phase of the tour, Chairman Shri Prasad inspected the Gevra Mega Project. After reviewing the mine plan from the view point, he reached the coal face and reached ground-zero and discussed the expansion of the mine, achieving the annual target, etc. Later, he went to the new public silo at Gevra and reviewed the progress of the work. He went up to the view point of the silo and discussed rail rake availability, coal stock, coal dispatch strategy etc.

Chairman Coal India also visited Dipka Mega Project and inspected the mine from mine view-point and inquired about land acquisition of nearby villages like Malgaon, Suabhondi etc.

During the visit SECL CMD, Director (Technical/Operations) SK Pal, Director (Finance) G Srinivasan, Director Technical (Planning/Projects) SN Kapri, Director (Personnel) Debasis Acharyya, Area General Manager Kusmunda Sanjay Mishra and Area General Manager Gevra and Dipka SK Mohanty accompanied Coal India Chairman.
