The development marks a major step in strengthening renewable energy integration, ensuring grid stability, and boosting the nation’s clean energy infrastructure.

Congratulating the project team, THDC's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) RK Vishnoi said the achievement reflects the company’s engineering excellence and paves the way for commissioning the remaining two units of the project. “Once fully operational, the Tehri Hydro Power Complex will achieve a total installed capacity of 2,400 MW, comprising the 1,000 MW Tehri HPP, 400 MW Koteshwar HEP and 1,000 MW from the Variable Speed PSP,” Vishnoi added.

While, THDC's Director (Finance) Sipan Kumar Garg lauded the milestone as a demonstration of THDCIL’s capability in advanced hydropower and pumped storage projects. He said the synchronization enhances operational flexibility and grid stability while reinforcing the company’s role in building a sustainable and resilient energy ecosystem.

Echoing similar views, THDC's Executive Director (Tehri Complex) LP Joshi credited the PSP team, consortium partners GEPIL and HCC, and other stakeholders for their collaborative effort. He emphasized that the next focus will be on achieving commercial operations at the earliest.
