Union Steel Minister visits NMDC

New Delhi: Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries, HD Kumaraswamy, visited NMDC's head office in Hyderabad on Thursday, accompanied by Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma.

The ministers held a meeting with NMDC's CMD (Additional Charge) Amitava Mukherjee, along with functional directors and senior officers, to review the company's performance, future plans, social initiatives, and challenges faced by NMDC and NSL.

The meeting included discussions on upcoming projects aimed at promoting excellence, innovation, and sustainability. Kumaraswamy expressed confidence in NMDC’s potential to achieve Maharatna status and encouraged officers to aim for 100 million tonnes by 2030, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India.

Addressing NMDC employees, Varma highlighted the Ministry of Steel's efforts to enhance production and profit in steel public sector enterprises (PSEs). He emphasized NMDC’s crucial role in supporting smaller units in the iron and steel industry and meeting sector demands.

Amitava Mukherjee, CMD of NMDC, stated, "We are honored to host the Union Minister of Steel and the Minister of State for Steel. NMDC remains committed to becoming a global, environmentally friendly mining company with a focus on social development. We are moving towards a future where Indian mining is associated with progress, innovation, and responsibility."
