Vizag Port handles record 85 million tonnes cargo in 345 days

Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has handled record over 85 million tonnes of cargo in 345 days during the current financial year

New Delhi/Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has handled record over 85 million tonnes of cargo in 345 days during the current financial year, marking the highest ever cargo throughput in its 92-year history.

VPA Chairperson M Angamuthu said that the Port achieved the milestone during the ongoing financial year, reflecting steady growth in cargo handling and operational efficiency.

"The Port has handled 85.07 million tonnes of cargo in just 345 days during the current financial year, the highest ever cargo handled in the 92-year journey of Visakhapatnam Port," he said in a press release.

The Chairperson said that the achievement was the result of the dedicated efforts of the entire VPA team and effective coordination with stakeholders.

He further expressed confidence that the port would successfully achieve the ambitious target of 90 million tonnes during the current financial year.

The milestone highlights improved operational efficiency, streamlined processes and sustained growth momentum in cargo handling activities at the Port. He also expressed confidence that the port would achieve the ambitious cargo handling target of 100 million tonnes in the financial year 2026-27.
