New Delhi: An Adelaide pilot used his tracking system to demonstrate just how boring flight testing can be by spelling out "I'm bored" into the sky on his tracking device. The pilot, who works for Flight Training Adelaide, had spent over three hours in the air since he was tasked with putting a new engine through its paces. Thus, he decided to etch the letters over South Australia, and sneakily added a couple of phallic symbols along the way.
Despite the inappropriateness of the drawing, the pilot's artwork was only visible to aviation followers watching live flight tracking programs and websites, although it could not be seen from the ground. But the explicit graffiti went viral anyway after it was captured by the FlightAware website.
However, pilots drawing pictures was "uncommon but not unheard of," says Civil Aviation Safety Authority spokesman Peter Gibson. "All pilots plan a track for their aircraft to get between where they're going from and to — now what that track looks like once it shows up on the radar, of course, is another thing entirely," he said.
Flight Training Adelaide director Pine Pienaar said the pilot's actions were not condoned by the organisation.
