Surat: Mehul Choksi, from Surat, successfully finished his Ph.D. thesis on Narendra Modi as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and Prime Minister of India. But before any doubts arise, this Mehul Choksi is a student in Surat's Veer Narmad South Gujarat University and not the fugitive businessman who is currently wanted by Indian authorities. A lawyer by profession, Choksi previously graduated with Political Science.
Choksi began his thesis work in 2010 when Narendra Modi was still the state's Chief Minister.
He recently submitted his thesis on the topic "Leadership Under Government: Case Study of Narendra Modi" for which he surveyed around 450 people. The respondents, comprising teachers, students, government officials, farmers, and others, needed to answer a set of 32 questions.
Around 81 percent of respondents felt "positive leadership" was an important quality in a Prime Minister, Choksi's research survey revealed. It added that 34 percent respondents said transparency was the most important quality needed while 31 percent felt authenticity is the most vital quality.
Around 48 percent of the respondents were also of the opinion that Modi's political marketing skills were the best while 25 percent believed his speeches were better than others.
Collecting the real-time information from people and writing on one of the country's most powerful personalities without any biases were some of the challenges Choksi faced, according to Nilesh Joshi, Choksi's academic guide.
