New Delhi: The Prime Minister Office (PMO) has refused to provide information related to the decision to abrogate Article 370.

Lucknow based activist Dr Nutan Thakur had sought a copy of the official file of PMO related with the decision to abrogate Article 370, end the status of Statehood of Jammu and Kashmir and form Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Laddakh.

The Central Public Information Officer (CPIO) of PMO disposed of the RTI application, saying that it was being done "after due consideration."

Calling the disposal "improper" Nutan has filed the First Appeal with the PMO against this order. The RTI activist said that information in RTI can only be refused under the RTI Act if it is exempted under any provision of the RTI Act. Here the information has not been refused on any provision of RTI Act, but merely with use of words "after due consideration", which is not proper.

On August 5, 2019, the Modi government had abrogated article 370 with an order of the president of India. The resolution was passed in both the houses of the parliament with above 2/3rd majority.
