New Delhi: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) organised a free health check-up camp for Safai Mitras at its Indira Vihar Health Centre in Bilaspur as part of "Special Campaign 6 and Swachhata Hi Seva 2026".
Contractual sanitation workers engaged at SECL’s Indira Vihar Colony, including women sanitation workers, underwent comprehensive health screening during the camp.

The health check-up covered blood pressure, blood sugar, ECG, lipid profile, kidney function tests, blood tests and Pulmonary Function Test (PFT), along with a general health assessment. Medical professionals also provided health consultations to the workers.
SECL said further medical advice and medicines would be provided, wherever required, based on the test reports.
The initiative was aimed at improving access to healthcare screening for Safai Mitras, who play an important role in maintaining cleanliness, while also creating awareness about their health and safety.
Beneficiaries appreciated the initiative, noting that access to multiple health tests and medical consultation at a single location helped them understand their health status and receive necessary medical advice.
The Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign is being observed across the country from September 17 to October 2 under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat.”
One of the key pillars of the campaign is ‘SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivirs’, which focuses on health check-ups, provision of safety equipment and facilitating access to eligible welfare schemes for Safai Mitras.

The health camp also forms part of SECL’s cleanliness and awareness initiatives under Special Campaign 6. The main implementation phase of the campaign will be held from October 2 to 31, with a focus on cleanliness and reduction of pendency, along with special emphasis on the effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste.
Under both campaigns, SECL is undertaking various cleanliness, awareness and participatory activities, with the health camp placing the health, safety and dignity of sanitation workers at the centre of its cleanliness initiatives.
