As per the order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on July 17, Kumar will take charge as Director (Business Development) for a term of five years from the date of assumption of office. His tenure will continue until the date of his superannuation or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

On May 19, the PESB Panel had recommended the name of Kumar for CIL’s Director (Business Development) post from a list of 10 candidates.

Coal India Limited is the world’s largest coal-producing company and plays a pivotal role in ensuring energy security for the country. The appointment of a seasoned executive like Shri Kumar to a key strategic position is expected to strengthen the company’s business development initiatives.

As Director (Business Development) of Coal India, Kumar will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities for the company. This includes expanding market reach, exploring new product lines, and establishing strategic alliances.
