AK Jana takes over as Managing Director of IGL

AK Jana, who was serving as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gail Gas Limited, has been appointed as Managing Director of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL)

New Delhi: AK Jana has taken over as Managing Director (MD) of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) on Tuesday. Prior to this assignment, Jana was serving as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gail Gas Limited (a wholly-owned subsidiary of GAIL, engaged in the business of city gas distribution). He has taken over the charge from ES Ranganathan, who has ceased to be a Director and Managing Director with effect from June 16. This information has been shared by the IGL during the regulatory filing to the stock exchange on June 16.

Jana's education & background 

Jana is a graduate in Production (Mechanical) Engineering and is having over 35 years of experience in the gas sector. He has vast experience in project execution of construction, commissioning and operation and maintenance of Gas Processing Plant and LNG terminal, rotary equipment, Natural Gas and LPG pipelines.

Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL)

Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) is one of India's leading natural gas distribution companies. IGL supplies natural gas as cooking and vehicular fuel. The company was established in 1998 and operates primarily in the Indian state of Delhi. The company has taken over and operated the Delhi City Gas Distribution Project from Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) for laying a network of gas distribution pipelines in the Delhi. The company started as a joint venture between GAIL, Bharat Petroleum and the government of NCT of Delhi.
