New Delhi: Amit Kumar Jain has taken over as Director (Finance) of Grid Controller of India Limited (Grid-India) with effect from Thursday. In his new role, Jain will be a member of the Board of Directors and will oversee the company’s finance and accounts operations, while also spearheading the formulation and evolution of financial policies.
Before joining Grid-India, Jain was serving as General Manager (Finance) at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. He brings with him a distinguished career spanning over 29 years of post-qualification experience in the power sector, having joined Power Grid in 2001.
An alumnus of Ajmer University, Rajasthan, Jain holds a degree in Commerce and is a Chartered Accountant, certified by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi. He has also completed advanced management programmes from premier institutions including ISB Hyderabad, IIM Lucknow, IIM Kolkata, IIM Kozhikode, XLRI Jamshedpur, and Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, Germany.
Throughout his career, Jain has held several leadership roles in regional and corporate capacities, including serving as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of POWERGRID West Central Transmission Ltd. and Head of Finance for Western Region-II. His areas of expertise include fund mobilization, treasury, budgeting, commercial operations, securitization, and ERP implementation.
He played a pivotal role in establishing the Business & Corporate Development (BCD) function of Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd. (CTUIL) under CERC regulations. Known for his strategic insight and collaborative leadership, Jain has represented India at the Global Management Contest and is recognized as a business simulation expert.
Grid-India, a central PSU under the Ministry of Power, is responsible for overseeing the integrated operation of the national power grid and ensuring grid stability and reliability. Jain’s appointment is expected to further strengthen the company’s financial strategy and operational resilience.
