Amitava Mukherjee set to be next CMD of NMDC

The PESB Panel has recommended the name of Amitava Mukherjee for the post of new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of NMDC Limited

New Delhi: Amitava Mukherjee is set to be next Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of NMDC Limited. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Thursday. Presently, he is serving as Director (Finance) in the same organisation.

Mukherjee has been recommended for the post of CMD of NMDC from a list of nine candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB Selection panel in its selection meeting held on November 15. Out of nine candidates, three candidates were from NMDC and one each from MOIL Limited, Bridge And Roof Company (India) Limited, Cement Corporation of India Limited, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Steel Authority of India Limited and Indian Railways.

Mukherjee belongs to the 1995 batch of Indian Railway Accounts Services (IRAS) and is a Cost Accountant. He has a Master of Commerce Degree from Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur. In 2018, he joined NMDC as Director (Finance). Prior to joining NMDC, he was General Manager (Finance) in Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for three years. During his service in IRAS from 1997-2016, he held key positions in the Eastern Railways and received the National Award for Outstanding Services in 2006. Before joining IRAS, he worked at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) from 1994-1997.

Mukherjee was awarded the 'FE CFO of the Year Award' by Financial Express for the year 2022 in the Large Industry-Manufacturing Category, making NMDC the only PSU to be awarded with this honour. Taking us from strength to strength, Amitava Mukherjee is playing a historic role in building NMDC 2.0.
