Amrita Sharan appointed as Director (Personnel) of Air India

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Amrita Sharan as Director (Personnel) of Air India Limited. The approval was announced in the late hours of Monday. She has been appointed on the Air India board for a period of three years or till the date of her superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. She is currently serving as Executive Director (Industrial Relations) in the same organisation and also holding additional charge of the post Director (Personnel). With her new assignment, Sharan became the first women Director (Personnel) of Air India and a member of the Board of Directors of Air India Limited.

Amrita Sharan's profile

Sharan is an MBA in Personnel Management (Human Resources Management). She has professional experience of about 30 years. Her Linkedin profile says that she started her carrier as Personnel Officer at Indian Airlines in 1990. Since then she has been involved in the management of the full range of HR functions. She partnered with key executives across the organisation to drive employee engagement, enhance morale and performance levels in an environment experiencing both significant external and internal organisational changes.

In June 2015, she joined Air India as General Manager (Personnel). Later in June 2016, she was promoted as Executive Director (Integration & Industrial Relations) of the national carrier.
