New Delhi: Anand Mohan has assumed charge as Director (Technical) of Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited (CMPDI) on Friday. Prior to his appointment, Mohan served in various capacities at subsidiaries of Coal India Limited, including Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL).
A Mining Engineering graduate from National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Mohan began his professional career with NCL’s Amlohri Project in 1989. He later completed M.Tech in Open Cast Mining from Indian School of Mines in 2005. He also holds the First-Class Mines Manager’s Certificate of Competency issued by DGMS.
With over 36 years of experience in the coal mining sector, Mohan has expertise in mine planning, mining operations, project management, rehabilitation, environmental management and digital transformation initiatives across various Coal India subsidiaries.
He has also undergone international training programmes, including Environmental Assessment and Management at the University of Wales under the ODA Programme, besides participating in the Advance Global Management Programme involving technical study visits to several European countries.

Mohan is a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers (India) and a life member of MMEAI and MGMI.
In his new role at CMPDI, he will oversee the Research, Technology and Business Development divisions along with other key departments. The company said his extensive industry experience and global exposure are expected to contribute significantly to CMPDI and the Indian coal sector.
