New Delhi: Anupam Misra has assumed charge as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) with effect from July 1. Prior to joining HCL, he was serving as Director (Marketing) at Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT).

The Ministry of Mines had approved his appointment on June 8. He will serve as CMD of the Miniratna CPSE until his superannuation on February 28, 2030, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
A seasoned management professional, Misra holds a B.Tech (Hons.) in Civil Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from IIM Lucknow. He has also completed the General Management for Shipping programme from IIM Ahmedabad and a one-year International Business Programme from IIM Kolkata.

Bringing more than 33 years of experience, Misra has built extensive expertise in marketing, international trading and business development across industrial raw materials, metals, minerals, chemicals, agro-commodities, engineering goods and project business. He is recognised for developing new business solutions and structuring complex business-to-business (B2B) transactions from concept to execution.
During his tenure as Director (Marketing) at FACT from July 2020 to June 2026, Misra strengthened the company's distribution network and expanded its market reach and product portfolio, including imported fertilisers. He also held the additional charge of Chairman & Managing Director of FACT from January 5 to February 2, 2026.
Earlier, Misra served as Director (Marketing) at PEC Limited, a PSU under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, for four years, taking his cumulative board-level experience in Central Public Sector Enterprises to around a decade. He also worked as General Manager (Marketing) at STC of India Limited, where he gained significant experience in international trading and marketing operations.
