BPCL appoints Vedveer Arya (IDAS) as Additional Director on its board

New Delhi: State-run oil marketing major Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has announced a change in its Board of Directors with the appointment of Vedveer Arya as an Additional Director and the completion of tenure of Independent Director Sushma Agarwal.

According to a regulatory filing, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has nominated Arya, currently Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor (AS&FA) in the Ministry, to the Board of BPCL for a period of three years on a co-terminus basis or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Arya has been appointed as an Additional Director on the Board with effect from March 9, 2026.

Arya is a 1997-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) and holds a Master’s degree from University of Delhi. Over the course of his career, he has held several key positions in the government, including Joint Secretary & Additional Financial Adviser (R&D) at the Ministry of Defence.

He has also served as Integrated Financial Adviser to the Southern Naval Command in Kochi and the Southern Air Command in Thiruvananthapuram, besides working as Director (Finance) at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Hyderabad, where he was associated with the Agni missile programme and other tactical missile projects.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sushma Agarwal, Independent Director on the BPCL Board, ceased to be a director with effect from March 10, 2026, following the completion of her tenure.
