New Delhi: D Guhan is set to be the new Director (Finance) of Housing & Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO). Guhan's name has been recommended by the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) on Wednesday. He is currently serving as Executive Director in the same organisation.
Guhan has been selected from a list of eight candidates. A total of two candidates who were on the list were from Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) and others were from Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR), RailTel Corporation of India Ltd (RCIL), Projects & Development India Limited (PDIL), HINDALCO and HUDCO.
HUDCO is a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation. It is the premier techno-financing PSE, in the field of housing and infrastructure development in the country.
HUDCO started financing for the development of infrastructures in 1989. The priority was given for infrastructure facilities including projects in the sectors of drainage, electricity, water supply, sewerage, solid waste management and roads in the urban areas. Later the social infrastructure components like primary schools and playgrounds, hostels for working women, healthcare centres, police stations and jails, courts received the benefit of funding for a low cost.
