Director (Marketing) Mukesh Choudhary gets additional charge of Director (HR) at Coal India

CIL Director (Marketing) Mukesh Choudhary gets additional charge of Director (HR) until a regular incumbent is appointed, an order said

New Delhi: Mukesh Choudhary, Director (Marketing) of Coal India Limited (CIL), has been given additional charge of the post of Director (Human Resources) until the appointment of a regular incumbent, according to an official order accessed by PSU Watch. The arrangement follows the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet's (ACC) decision to not extend the tenure of the incumbent Director (HR), Vinay Ranjan.

Ranjan's tenure ends July 27

As reported by PSU Watch on July 16, the ACC declined an extension for Ranjan beyond July 27, according to an order issued by the Ministry of Coal. That order said, "I am directed to convey the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet for non-extension of the tenure of Shri Vinay Ranjan, Director (HR), Coal India Limited (CIL) beyond 27.07.2026." Ranjan has held the post since July 28, 2021.

Mukesh Choudhary, CIL's Director (Marketing)

Choudhary took over as Director (Marketing) at CIL with effect from the afternoon of December 23, 2022. Before joining CIL, he was Deputy Director General in the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. He is an officer of the Indian Ordnance Factory Services (IOFS), 1996 batch.

His earlier coal-sector experience was in the Ministry of Coal, where he spent six-and-a-half years as Director (Coal Production and Despatch), with functions that included monitoring coal supplies, transport logistics and marketing policies.

Choudhary is a Mechanical Engineering (Honours) graduate from Engineering College Kota. He also holds a Master of Financial Analysis (MFA) degree and an MBA.

Choudhary has served on the boards of government-owned coal companies including MCL, SECL, NCL, WCL, CMPDIL, NTPL and SCCL.
