Dr Ankur Baruah assumes charge as Director (HR) of OIL

Dr Ankur Baruah has assumed charge as Director (Finance) of Oil India Limited (OIL) on Wednesday

New Delhi: Dr Baruah has assumed charge as Director (HR) of Oil India Limited (OIL) on Wednesday. Prior to this elevation, he was serving as Executive Director (HR) at OIL, bringing to the role over 30 years of distinguished experience in human resource leadership within the oil and gas industry.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) had approved the appointment of Dr Ankur Baruah as Director (HR) of OIL on April 15. His tenure will be effective from the date of assumption of charge until his superannuation on February 29, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Dr Baruah is an accomplished professional with an MBA in Human Resources and a PhD in Business Administration. He is also certified in IPMA Project Management and accredited in Psychometric Testing, underscoring his expertise in both strategic planning and people development. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in steering critical HR functions including manpower planning, talent acquisition, performance management, stakeholder engagement, and change management.

Recognized for his people-centric leadership style, Dr Baruah has championed initiatives that have enhanced OIL’s reputation as a progressive and inclusive workplace. His strategic alignment of HR policies with business objectives has driven organisational growth and resilience, making OIL a benchmark for HR excellence in the energy sector.

He has represented Oil India Limited at several prestigious national and international HR forums and has been lauded with multiple accolades, including Most Iconic HR Leader, Topmost HR Leader in Asia, and the HR Excellence Award.

A native of Kushal Nagar in Jorhat, Assam, Dr Baruah is known for fostering a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and employee empowerment. His appointment is expected to further strengthen OIL’s human capital capabilities at a time when the energy sector is undergoing rapid transformation.
