FinMin appoints Akani Devi & Titus Maliakkel Francis on board of New India Assurance Company Limited

Ministry of Finance has appointed Akani Devi as part-time non-official Director and Titus Francis Maliakkel, General Manager in NIACL as General Manager and Director in the board of New India Assurance Company Limited

New Delhi: State-owned New India Assurance Company Limited said in a regulatory filing on Thursday that Ministry of Finance has appointed Akani Devi as part-time non-official Director (Woman Independent Director) and Titus Francis Maliakkel, General Manager in NIACL as General Manager and Director of the company.

Further, it noted, "In accordance with provisions of the Companies Act 2013, they are not related to any other Director on the Board of the company." It also said, "we hereby affirm that the above Directors being appointed are not debarred from holding the office of director by virtue of any order of SEBI or any other such authority."

Brief profiles

Akani Devi is a Principal at Assam Sikha Academy which was introduced by her. The school caters to the needs of poor and minority students. She has 10 years of teaching experience at B Barooah College.

Titus Maliakkel Francis is currently the General Manager and CFO of the New India Assurance Company Limited. He is a Chartered Accountant and is having more than 10 years of experience in the insurance industry.
