New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited has appointed Manoj Kumar Sharma, Executive Director, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), as Director (Projects) of the company.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG) had nominated Sharma for the post through a letter dated September 17, 2026. According to an order from MoPNG, his tenure will effective from the date he assumes charge and continue until his superannuation on April 30, 2031, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
GAIL’s Board, at its meeting held on September 18, 2026, approved his appointment as an Additional Director with effect from the date of assumption of charge as Director (Projects).
Sharma holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Production & Industrial Engineering) from Delhi College of Engineering and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. He has more than three decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, with expertise spanning design and engineering, project management, procurement, construction management, and operations and maintenance of crude oil, petroleum products, LPG and natural gas pipeline networks.
Prior to his appointment at GAIL, Sharma served as Executive Director and Regional Head of Eastern Region Pipelines at IOCL, where he oversaw operations and maintenance, construction and city gas distribution businesses across five states, covering a pipeline network of more than 5,700 km.

He has also served as Executive Director (Projects) in IOCL’s Pipelines Division, handling engineering, procurement and construction management of major oil, LPG and natural gas pipeline projects in India and overseas.
Sharma has served on the boards of GSPL India Transco Limited, GSPL India Gasnet Limited and Kochi Salem Pipeline Private Limited** as a nominee director representing IOCL. His experience includes board-level governance, project execution, business development, operational excellence and cost optimisation.
