GAIL’s CMD Manoj Jain gets additional charge of Mahanagar Gas Ltd

New Delhi: CMD of Gail India Limited (GAIL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Manoj Jain has been appointed as Chairman on the Board of Mahanagar Gas Limited. The decision has been taken by Mahanagar Gas Limited's promoter company GAIL, upon Dr Ashutosh Karnatak, who ceased to be Chairman and Non-Executive Director of the company. The appointment of Jain shall be effective post-approval of its board of Mahanagar Gas Limited. The company is taking necessary action in this regard. This information has been shared by the Mahanagar Gas Limited during a regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Thursday.

Jain's education & background

Jain is a mechanical engineering graduate with an MBA in operations management. He joined GAIL as a Graduate Engineer Trainee in 1985 and rose through the ranks to his current position. He possesses rich and diverse experience encompassing more than 32 years with GAIL in the areas of projects, operations & management, pipeline integrity management and marketing. Prior to his elevation as Director (Business Development), he was serving as Executive Director (Marketing-Gas) in the same organisation.

Jain also spearheaded the installation and commissioning of the Rs 10,000 crore grassroots petrochemical complex at Lepetkata Assam, as Chief Operating Officer of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) which has been one of the fastest projects ever implemented in the North East of its size and magnitude. Earlier, Jain also worked in Operation & Maintenance at the Corporate Level for a number of years. Jain is currently, Chairman of Central UP Gas Limited (CUGL) and Konkan LNG Private Limited (KLPL).
