Govt clears appointment of Thirumalai Selvam for SMFCL's Director (Projects) post

The ACC has approved the appointment of Thirumalai Selvan for post of Director (Projects) of Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited (SMFCL)

New Delhi: Thirumalai Selvam is the new Director (Projects) of Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited (SMFCL) {erstwhile Sagarmala Development Company Limited (SDCL)}, a Schedule ‘B’ Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) had approved the appointment of Selvam for the post of Director (Projects) of SMFCL on September 6.

According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Selvam has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation, i.e. June 30, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Currently, he is serving as General Manager and Technical Assistant to the Executive Director at the Research & Development Centre for Iron and Steel (RDCIS) under Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

Selvam was recommended for the post of Director (Projects) of SMFCL by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB). He was chosen from a pool of 11 shortlisted candidates. The selection interview was conducted on May 1, 2025.
