New Delhi: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has announced the appointment of Abhay Sharma as an Independent Director on its Board. The appointment, approved by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG), took effect on May 9, and will continue for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The appointment complies with Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. In an official communication to stock exchanges, HPCL confirmed that Sharma is not related to any of the existing directors of the company and is not debarred from holding the office of director by any regulatory authority.
Sharma, a seasoned finance professional from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, is a Post Graduate in Commerce and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has been a practicing Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in finance and management.
He is actively involved in several professional bodies and has held significant roles within various tax practitioner associations. His contributions to the profession have earned him recognitions such as the “Times Icon of Madhya Pradesh 2020” in the “Entrepreneur of the Year” category, and a place among “The Luminaries” by the Chartered Accountants of Central India.
Beyond his professional commitments, Sharma is a prolific writer in tax and financial journals and contributes regularly to newspapers. He is also a well-regarded speaker, having delivered keynote addresses at various national and regional seminars.
