The Union Human Resource Development Ministry could have opened a can of worms for itself

New Delhi: The Union Human Resource Development Ministry could have opened a can of worms for itself. According to sources, the ministry has caved in, accepted a long-standing demand from the Pharmacy Council and has agreed to amend the AICTE Act to exclude pharmacy from the definition of technical education. If the amendment goes through, the Pharmacy Council will be the only regulatory body with jurisdiction over pharmacy education.

Now with the acceptance of this demand, it remains to be seen if the ministry does the same for architecture education, as the Council of Architecture has also been making a similar demand for a long time.
