IIT Ropar appoints Nikhil Swami as its PRO

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar has appointed award-winning communications professional Nikhil Swami as its Public Relations Officer (PRO), marking a strategic move to strengthen the institution's media outreach and brand visibility across national and international platforms.

Swami, who assumed charge in October 2025, brings over six years of experience in developing integrated communication strategies for government and public sector organizations. He will lead strategic communication and PR initiatives to enhance IIT Ropar's institutional reputation.

Prior to joining IIT Ropar, Swami served as Assistant Manager Corporate Communications at NBCC (India) Limited, where he spearheaded 360-degree communication campaigns for the PSU utilizing print media, digital platforms and social media channels.

Before NBCC, Swami worked with NTPC Limited as Corporate Communications Executive, where he developed and implemented internal and external communication plans while managing the company's reputation through proactive media relations and crisis communications.

He has been recognised with several prestigious awards, including the IIMCAA PR Person (Jury Special Mention 2024), Best Rising Communicator in March 2023 and PRCI 2024 Chanakya  award for Integrated Brand Communication.

Swami holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi and a Master's degree in Mass Communication from Kurukshetra University.
