IRFC appoints Laya Madduri (IAS) as Govt Nominee Director on its Board

IAS officer Laya Madduri has been appointed as Government Nominee Director on the board of IRFC Limited with effect from May 7

New Delhi: Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited (IRFC) has appointed Laya Madduri (IAS) as Part-time Government Nominee Director on its Board with effect from May 7, the company informed stock exchanges in a regulatory filing.

The appointment was approved by IRFC’s Board of Directors through a resolution passed by circulation on May 7, following an order issued by the Ministry of Railways dated May 6.

Currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Infrastructure Finance Secretariat under the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Madduri brings extensive administrative and financial governance experience to the state-run railway financing company.

An IAS officer with a background in mechanical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Madduri has held several key positions in public administration and finance. Her previous assignments include serving as Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Finance Department as well as the Science, Technology and Climate Change Department, and Managing Director of Assam Financial Corporation.

She has also worked extensively in district administration across Assam, including as Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur, Dibrugarh and Cachar districts. Prior to her current role, she served as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs, where she handled matters related to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

The appointment will remain effective until she continues to hold the position of Joint Secretary in the Infrastructure Finance Secretariat or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
