K Surendaran appointed as independent director of CPCL

New Delhi: State-owned Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited said in a regulatory filing that K Surendaran has been appointed as an Independent Director on the Board of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) with effect from March 27 pursuant to the approval of the Board of Directors of the company passed vide Board Resolution dated March 26.

Brief profile

K Surendaran is an Indian politician from the Kasaragod district of Kerala. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. He is currently the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the State of Kerala.

Further, the filing added that "Surendaran is not related to any other Director on the Board of the CPCL / Key Managerial Person of CPCL and is not debarred from holding the position of Director by virtue of any order to SEBI / any other Statutory Authority."
