Manish Raj Gupta takes additional charge as CMD of RINL

New Delhi: Manish Raj Gupta, Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials) at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has assumed additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) on Thursday.

A Mechanical Engineering graduate from MANIT Bhopal with a Postgraduate Diploma in Management, Gupta joined SAIL in 1991 as a Management Trainee (Technical) at Durgapur Steel Plant. Over the years, he has built a distinguished career across several SAIL units, marked by strong technical expertise and leadership.

During his nearly three decades at Durgapur Steel Plant, Gupta played a key role in plant operations, project execution and equipment reliability. He made notable contributions to improving the efficiency of the Steel Melting Shop, with a strong focus on safety, quality and operational excellence.

In 2019, he moved to Bokaro Steel Plant as Chief General Manager, heading the Steel Melting Shops. Under his leadership, the plant witnessed major technological upgrades, process streamlining and performance improvements. Several modernization projects were executed, enhancing overall steelmaking efficiency.

He later served as Executive Director (Works) at IISCO Steel Plant, where he led initiatives in sustainability, cost optimisation and digitalisation. These efforts helped improve operational performance and align the plant with SAIL’s long-term strategic goals.

Before taking charge as Director (Technical, Projects & Raw Materials), Gupta was Executive Director In-charge (Operations) at SAIL’s Corporate Office in New Delhi.

Known as a proactive and visionary leader, Gupta brings deep technical knowledge and strategic insight to his new role, with a continued focus on innovation, sustainability and growth of the steel sector.
