Manoj Kumar Sharma assumes charge as Director (Projects) of GAIL

Manoj Kumar Sharma has assumed the charge as Director (Projects) of GAIL (India) Limited on Saturday

New Delhi: Manoj Kumar Sharma has assumed the charge as Director (Projects) of GAIL (India) Limited on Saturday. Prior to assuming charge as Director (Projects) of GAIL, Sharma was serving as Executive Director and Regional Head (Eastern Region Pipelines) of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).

GAIL board approved his appointment on September 18.

At his previous role in Indian Oil, Sharma was responsible for operations and maintenance, construction and City Gas Distribution (CGD) businesses across five states, overseeing a pipeline network spanning more than 5,700 km.

Sharma holds a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Production & Industrial Engineering) from Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB). He has over three decades of experience in hydrocarbon infrastructure. His expertise covers design and engineering, project management, procurement, construction management, and operations and maintenance.

He has worked across crude oil, petroleum products, LPG and natural gas pipeline networks. He also has experience in strategically important crude oil terminal projects.

Earlier, Sharma has also served as Executive Director (Projects), Pipelines Division of IOCL, where he was responsible for engineering, procurement and construction management of major oil, LPG and natural gas pipeline projects in India and overseas.

He has served on the Boards of GSPL India Transco Limited (GITL), GSPL India Gasnet Limited (GIGL), and Kochi Salem Pipeline Private Limited (KSPPL) as Nominee Director representing IOCL, contributing to strategic governance and the development of energy infrastructure.

Sharma has extensive leadership experience and a strong track record in board-level governance. His expertise includes project execution, business development, operational excellence and cost optimisation.

He has a strong understanding of the energy infrastructure sector. He also focuses on innovation and emerging energy initiatives. His experience is expected to support GAIL’s growth and transformation in the evolving energy landscape.
