MNVS Prabhakar assumes charge as CMD of RINL

New Delhi: MNVS Prabhakar on Tuesday assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP).

A seasoned steel industry professional, Prabhakar brings more than three decades of experience in the Indian steel sector. Before taking over as CMD of RINL, he was serving as Executive Director at NMDC Steel Limited (NMDC), where he led operational and financial turnaround initiatives.

Prabhakar started his career with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in 1991 as a Management Trainee (Technical) after completing his Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgy from VRCE, Nagpur. He later earned an MBA in HR and Marketing.

During his career, he held several leadership positions across operational units and functional domains, gaining recognition for his operational expertise and strategic leadership.

He joined NMDC Steel Limited as Executive Director on February 1, 2025. At NSL, he led an integrated transformation strategy focused on safety, team alignment, and performance accountability, which resulted in improvements in operational efficiency and financial performance.

Under his leadership, the company achieved stabilization of plant operations near rated capacity, improvement in techno-economic parameters, enhanced productivity, and reduction in specific energy consumption. He also played a key role in implementing digital initiatives such as RFID-enabled systems, digital gate entry, and Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS), while promoting environmental sustainability, manpower rationalisation, and transparent workplace practices.

The appointment comes at a significant phase for RINL as the company focuses on operational strengthening, financial sustainability, and long-term growth. RINL said Prabhakar’s leadership and industry experience are expected to provide fresh momentum to the organisation’s strategic objectives and expansion plans.

Senior officials, employees, and stakeholders of RINL welcomed Prabhakar and expressed confidence in his leadership for the company’s future growth.
