Narayanan Thirupathy to become part time non-official independent director of REC Limited

The board of REC Limited has appointed Narayanan Thirupathy as part-time non-official independent director with effect from March 6

New Delhi: State-owned REC Limited said in a regulatory filing that the board has appointed Narayanan Thirupathy (DIN 10063245) as part-time non-official independent director with effect from March 6. He would provide his services till March 2, 2026. "Tirupathy is holding Nil equity shares in the Company. Further, he has no inter-se relation with any other Director or Key Managerial Personnel of the Company," it added.

"Further, it is informed that Narayanan Thirupathy has given declaration that he is not debarred from holding the office of Director by virtue of any SEBI order or any other such authority," the filing noted.

Brief profile

Narayanan Thirupathy has been appointed as part-time non-official independent director on the board of REC Limited with effect from March 6. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Madras and is a popular television debater and social worker from Tamil Nadu. He has been working for the development of poor, downtrodden people for more than 35 years.

Narayanan Thirupathy is the founder of a social forum called "Theervu" which means Justice, through which he has created awareness about the socio economic and industrial policies of the country and popularised the concept of good governance with the people of Tamil Nadu. He is well known for his immense contribution to create peace, communal harmony and social justice.
