NMDC appoints Krishna Kumar Thakur as Director (Personnel)

NMDC has announced the appointment of Krishna Kumar Thakur as its Director (Personnel), with the senior HR professional assuming charge on Thursday

New Delhi: NMDC Limited has announced the appointment of Krishna Kumar Thakur as its Director (Personnel), with the senior HR professional assuming charge on Thursday.

A 1998-batch officer of the Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS), Thakur brings over two-and-a-half decades of experience in human resource management and administration across Indian Railways and Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).

Prior to joining NMDC, he served as Director (HR) at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, where he led key initiatives spanning HR, legal and health, safety and environment (HSE) domains. His tenure at BHEL was marked by organisational restructuring, policy reforms, the introduction of a uniform incentive scheme, and multi-skilling initiatives aimed at enhancing workforce capability and retention.

Thakur has also held significant roles in Indian Railways, handling HR functions across major divisions such as Solapur, Bhopal and Mumbai. As Chairman of the Railway Recruitment Cell, Western Railway, he oversaw large-scale recruitment, facilitating the induction of around 12,000 employees.

During his stint with RITES Limited, he was associated with an international train operations project in Saudi Arabia. He also headed the HR function at Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, where he contributed to streamlining HR policies and procedures.

An alumnus of Tilka Manjhi University, Bhagalpur, Thakur holds a postgraduate degree in Literature and a PGDM in Human Resources from Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

According to the company, his extensive experience across Indian Railways and large CPSEs is expected to strengthen NMDC’s people-centric ecosystem while aligning employee development with organisational objectives.
