ONGC appoints Satyan Kumar as its Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs)

Satyan Kumar has been appointed as Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs) of ONGC Limited with effect from May 27

New Delhi: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has appointed Satyan Kumar as Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs) with effect from May 27, following the approval of the company’s Board of Directors. He was recommended for the said post by the PESB panel on February 20.

The appointment has been made in accordance with a letter issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) on May 27, ONGC said in a regulatory filing to stock exchanges.

Kumar will serve in the role until his superannuation on November 30, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

A seasoned energy sector professional with more than 36 years of experience, Kumar has worked across the oil and gas value chain, including upstream operations, midstream activities, petrochemicals, corporate strategy and renewable energy. He is an Electrical Engineering graduate from Dayalbagh Educational Institution, Agra, and also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from MDI Gurgaon. He has additionally undergone advanced leadership training at ESCP-EAP, France.

Prior to this appointment, Kumar was serving as Executive Director (Chief Corporate Strategy) at ONGC, where he played a key role in shaping the company’s long-term strategic roadmap, including diversification into petrochemicals, LNG and green energy initiatives.

He currently serves as Non-Executive Chairman of ONGC Tripura Power Company and is also on the boards of ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited, OGL One Ltd. and Ayana Renewable Power Pvt. Ltd.

During his tenure at ONGC, Kumar has led several critical infrastructure and business development projects, including captive power plants at Uran, OPaL and Hazira, as well as the 103-km Hazira–Dahej naphtha pipeline. He also played an instrumental role in the development of ONGC’s first 15 MW utility-scale solar project and has been actively involved in advancing the company’s renewable energy initiatives in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

ONGC said Kumar has been at the forefront of the company’s efforts towards energy transition and sustainable growth, while contributing to operational efficiency, cost optimization and strategic investments in emerging green energy domains.
