ONGC appoints Vinod Seshan (IAS) as Govt Nominee Director

Vinod Seshan is a 2008-batch IAS officer from the Assam cadre and currently serves as Joint Secretary in the Petroleum Ministry

New Delhi: State-run oil and gas major Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has appointed Vinod Seshan, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, as Government Nominee Director on its Board.

According to a regulatory filing, the Board of ONGC approved Seshan’s appointment with effect from March 9. He will serve for a period of three years on a co-terminus basis or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Seshan is a 2008-batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service from the Assam cadre and currently serves as Joint Secretary in the Petroleum Ministry. He brings more than 20 years of professional experience, including over 17 years in policy-making, implementation, development and infrastructure project management, district administration, and crisis response.

Prior to joining the IAS, Seshan worked in the software services sector in India, where he handled roles related to software development, testing and knowledge management.

During his administrative career, he has also served on the boards of several government companies, including assignments with Oil India Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.

Seshan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Karnataka. He also earned Master’s degrees in Public Policy and Infrastructure, Investment and Finance from University College London.
