Parminder Chopra to be 1st woman CMD of PFC as ACC approves her appointment

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Parminder Chopra for the post of Chairperson and Managing Director (CMD) of Power Finance Corporation (PFC) Limited. With this, she became the first full-time women CMD of PFC. PFC is a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power.

According to an official notification, Chopra has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of her assumption of charge of the post till the date of her superannuation (i.e. April 30, 2027) or until further orders whichever is earlier. Presently, she is serving as Director (Finance) of the same Maharatna Power PSU. She has also been holding the addition charge of company’s CMD post.

Chopra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and is a qualified Cost Accountant and an MBA. She took over the charge of Director (Finance) of PFC on July 1, 2020. She has more than 35 years of experience in power sector, serving in key power sector organizations like NHPC and Power Grid.

Chopra joined PFC in 2005 and was working as an Executive Director (Finance) before assuming charge as Director (Finance) of PFC. She has handled a gamut of finance portfolios such as resource mobilization from domestic as well as international markets, banking & treasury, asset liability management, stressed assets resolution etc.
