PESB finds no suitable candidate for India Optel's CMD post

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has not recommended any candidate for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of India Optel Limited, following its selection meeting held on Wednesday.

According to the official minutes of the meeting, the Board interviewed multiple candidates for the top post of defence PSU but did not find any suitable candidate for recommendation. The PESB has advised the Administrative Ministry or Department to take an appropriate course of further action, including the option of referring the selection to a Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) or adopting any other mechanism with the approval of the competent authority.

A total of 10 candidates were interviewed for the position. These included senior officials from India Optel Limited, Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), the Department of Defence Production, and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), among others.

Notable candidates who appeared before the Board included Sharmishtha Koul Sharma, Director (HR), India Optel Limited; Dharmendra Kumar Madan, Officer on Special Duty at Heavy Vehicles Factory, Avadi under AVNL; Ajay Kumar Yerpude, Executive Director from the Indian Ordnance Factories Service; and Anil Kumar Gupta, Chief General Manager in the Department of Defence Production.

Other candidates comprised senior executives such as Sanjeev Kumar Agrawal and Surendra Kumar from Defence Production and AVNL respectively, as well as Pankaj Kumar Goyal, Vivek Jaiswal, R Venu Gopal, and Krishna Mohan Srivastava from various organisations including BSNL.
