Paranjape has been recommended for the post of Director (Technical) of WCL from a list of 12 candidates, who were interviewed by the PESB selection panel in its 75th meeting of 2025, held at 3:30 PM on August 27. The selection process involved interviews with twelve distinguished candidates from various leading public sector undertakings, including Damodar Valley Corporation, Central Coalfields Limited, Bharat Coking Coal Limited, Hindustan Copper Limited, and NTPC Limited.

Paranjape emerged as the top choice following a rigorous evaluation of professional experience, technical acumen, and leadership capabilities. His appointment is expected to bring strategic depth and operational excellence to WCL’s technical leadership, especially as the company continues to expand its role in India’s energy landscape.

WCL plays a pivotal role in coal production across central India and is a key subsidiary of Coal India Limited. The Director (Technical) position is critical in overseeing mining operations, safety standards, and technological innovation

The PESB’s recommendation will now proceed through the formal approval process by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
