PESB picks Joydeep Dasgupta for NMDC's Director (Production) role

The PESB panel has recommended the name of Joydeep Dasgupta for the post of Director (Production) of NMDC Limited on Tuesday

New Delhi: Joydeep Dasgupta is set to be next Director (Production) of NMDC Limited, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Steel. He has been recommended for the post by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on Tuesday. Presently, he is serving as Executive Director (Mines) at Jharkhand Group of Mines of Steel Authority of India (SAIL).

Dasgupta has been recommended for the post of Director (Production) of NMDC Limited from a list of 12 candidates, who were appeared for the interview. Out of 12 candidates, seven candidates were from NMDC, three candidates were from SAIL and one each from Indian Bureau of Mines and Odisha Mining Corporation Limited.

However, Dasgupta's recommendation is not yet final. The PESB clarified that their recommendation is contingent upon the final outcome of a legal case (WP No. 14454 of 2024) pending before the High Court of Karnataka. In its notification the PESB noted, “The above recommendation is subject to the final outcome of the WP No. 14454 of 2024 filed in the Hon'ble High Court of Karnataka."
