PESB recommends Chitranjan Kumar for ECL's Director (Technical) post

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Chitranjan Kumar for the post of Director (Technical) at Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), a 'Schedule B' Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal. Presently, he is serving as Area General Manager (Magadh-Sanghamitra area) of the same organisation.

The recommendation was made during PESB Meeting No. 32/2026 held on April 22. Chitranjan Kumar is currently serving as General Manager and Area General Manager at the Magadh-Sanghamitra area of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL).

According to the official minutes, a total of 12 candidates were interviewed for the position. The candidates included senior executives from various coal sector PSUs such as Coal India Limited (CIL) and its subsidiaries, including Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), and Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL).

Other candidates who appeared for the interview included executives from NTPC Limited and NLC India Limited, reflecting a broad-based competition for the key technical leadership role.

As Director (Technical) of ECL, Kumar will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). He will be responsible for the operation of mines and also for field activities, technical functions and the safety of mines.
